Christmas is a fun time at our house. Aubrie and Noah love every part of it. Jingle, our elf on a shelf, is the highlight each morning for Aubrie. She loves to figure out where he has moved each night.
We tend to start decorating fairly early. (2 weeks before Thanksgiving) Our schedules are crazy and so it has proven to be the best time for us. I do not get overly excited about the decorations, but Lory and the kids love it. I on the other hand, do get excited about the music. In particular, I love Michael Buble’s Christmas CD. (Seriously, go buy it if you don’t have it.)
A few weeks ago, while putting up our 9 foot Christmas tree, we turned on our Micheal Buble Christmas music. Which happens to be the best Christmas CD. It just gets us in the Christmas spirit. As the music began to play, Aubrie and Noah started to dance. (I might have been dancing as well.) Halfway through the first song, Aubrie looks at me and said, “Daddy, I don’t want to dance, but I can’t stop.” I have taught her so well. #proudadmoment
It is moments like these that build memories and makes us laugh.
Sometimes you need those moments that you just cut loose and dance. Maybe it isn’t an actual moment of dancing…but it is a moment that you let the stress of life slip away and you just enjoy what is happening around you in that moment.
Often times I hear people say they are too busy for this. I understand. I am too busy as well. Most of us probably are. If that describes you then schedule the moments in. There is nothing wrong with that. We live by a calendar in my house. Between church, work, band, writing, kids and their activities, Lory’s work, and everything else we try to do, a calendar is the only way we survive. AND sometimes I calendar in fun time. It is ok. So find some time today to enjoy life…even if it is just for a moment.
Honestly, if you make this a habit you might just find yourself dancing in a moment that you didn’t want to…and that will be ok. :)
