The driving force behind me wanting to be more intentional has been my kids. I want them to be difference makers and change the world. I don’t want the world to define their future, I want them to allow God to do that.
One of the small ways we help them is by creating the opportunity to serve and give.
Our church, like many others, just finished Operation Christmas Child. This is a great opportunity to let my kids do something tangible that is also a great teaching lesson. Participating in OCC could change their future and teach them the value of others.
OCC is something that they are beyond excited to do and they are only 3 and 4 years old. The older one actually remembered doing it last year and asked, when she saw the boxes at church if we could help others again. Taking the small opportunities to be intentional adds up to the big world changes in life.
I am hugely grateful to be a part of Suncoast Community Church and Operation Christmas Child. Our church did over 1100 boxes this year. We also had the privilege of being a hub for three counties. In total, almost 17,000 boxes came on our property. (And my back feels all of them still.) And yes, you read that correctly, 17,000.
It isn’t just 17,000 boxes. Each box represents a child that will get a present and will hear about the love of God.
Life isn’t about the moments that happen to you, but the moments you make happen. We need to learn intentionally.
This is the season of giving and so it is easy to look for things to do and to give back. Make sure you are intentional in giving back. It is time to live more intentional.
What opportunities do you get involved with throughout the year?
What are some other great teaching opportunities for kids?
